About
Hello,
I’m here today because of who Jesus Christ is. He is my Saviour and my Lord. It’s by His blood, that He has redeemed me from sin, death and hell. “I was lost, but now am found” By His Resurrection, I have life eternal.
It’s my privilege to share Christ with a lost and dieing world out on the streets. Nothing matter’s more to me. I tried the world and it’s ways, it’s nothing but empty with temporary satisfaction at it’s best.
True satisfaction is, knowing God through His Son Jesus Christ and doing His will on this earth. By the grace of God, I will continue to do so.
May you be blessed as you read, and as you go out and do what you are called to do.
Richard

Hey Richard…thanks for checking out me blog. To be honest with you, I completely agree that the churches that are already there need to step up and do more. I have a few hesitations myself about another church. But even the healthy, vocal congregations struggle to reach people with the Gospel in Portland. My intention is not to compete or establish one more organization – my intention is to utilize what the healthy, God-glorifying, growing churches are doing to try and reach more people in an area of the city where there are no churches. Take a look at my post “One/Year”… I talk a little bit about another “vision” I have for the area that involves working closely with my supporting churches to help them improve on their ministry using a church plant as a catalyst. I am thinking about the larger Christian community and beyond myself.
God Bless,
Jason

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the comment on my blog. It’s pretty new and I am still trying to figure out a structure for it. That quote was from Dever’s new book, “The Gospel and Personal Evangelism,” and that book has been so convicting!
Grace and peace,
Lew

Jason,
I understand what you are getting at. Thanks for relaying this to me. I see a church plant as OK, as long as it doesn’t become another organisation, or business with God’s name on it. We must remember that the unbelievers out there are smarter than we give them credit for. They know if it is just another church in four walls. They know that they can go to many corners in the city and find one. But, that is not what they want. They are waiting for the church to come to them and be visible. Can they see the church? That is the question. Not the building. They see that all the time, and it means nothing to them.
I will be praying for you brother,
Richard

Hi Richard, just dropped in to say hello and thanks for your blog.
I recently created http://www.whatisthegospel.org.uk as an antidote to some gospel messages today that mis-represent the true gospel in the context of evangelism. Hope you like it.

Richard,
I appreciated your comments about my take on evangelism at The Inklings. I am curious about your beliefs and background. I work in downtown Portland and am getting involved with the prison and jail ministries here. I agree with you very much about too many churches being just buildings. WE are the church and far too many of us have lost sight of that.
So, where do you preach? I’m not personally a fan of street preaching, but I would love to give you a listen.
