God gives the increase

Our weekly bible study at a local mall was increased by two people today. The beautiful thing was that it was truly God that brought them to us.
When I arrived a few minutes before the 4pm starting time, I noticed a lady sitting close by filling out a job application. Soon another brother arrived and we shared about what God was doing this past week. After about 10 minutes, the lady looks over at me and says, “hey, aren’t you the guy that I met a few weeks ago preaching?” I said where was that. She explained that we had met at the train stop by the park. I said, “really, would you like to join our study?” She said, “yes I would”. So for the next hour she stayed and participated in our study.
One of the brothers in our group noticed a young lady walking by us and he yelled out, “hey would you like to join us?” She inquired as to what we were doing. After we explained, she said sure. So there we were with two new people in our group that God sent along. Praise Him!
I would like to encourage others to pray about starting up a bible study in your local mall. Malls usually have some chairs, couches etc. that you can use. It’s a good place because there are lots of people around that God can bring your way.

Where there is people, there is God.

I think it is fantastic that you and your bible study are reaching out and finding new people. Perhaps the world would be a better place if more people were simply invited to take part in such a spiritually fulfilling and thought provoking experience as sharing scripture and comparing interpretations.

However, I do not think it is entirely fair to say that God “sent” them along. I believe that God gave you and your fellowship the wherewithal to ask them to join you, a very smart and dare I say Christian thing to do. But to say that God sent them implies that it was not your doing and it was against their will. and as we all know Genesis ensures us that we have free will and make our own decisions positive or negative.

So not not be so quick to underestimate the wisdom God has given you and your fellowship to invite others, and the wisdom of others to accept that invitation.

    Keep up the good work,

    Alexander

I agree with Alexander to an extent, but Jesus did say “No one can come to Me unless the Father draws him.”

    God bless you Richard!
This also goes to prove that where two or three are gathered, God is also there. Not one, but two or more. That is scriptural! God doesn’t expect or want us to do our harvesting by ourselves. We need each other!

I’m just beginning to understand that free will and predestination are not two opposite realites. They are two sides of the same coin.
I realize that this is not really what your post is about, but since the comments took that direction, I decided to chime in.
Besides all of that, I thank God that you are bringing people into the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    Amen, brother!

    Alexander,
Agree but disagree. We did our part in inviting them, however God had them there for a plan and purpose. I find this out everytime I go out. We do our part when He brings them along. It was not against their will, they had a choice, but God was drawing them.
Thanks, and be filled to overflowing when you go out!

    Prodigal Knot,
How true, “we need each other”. There is defently power in two.
    Thanks Bro.

    Brother Johnny,
It’s good to hear from you.
It never ceases to amaze me, how doctrine always slips in. And yes, you were right, “this was not what the post was about.
    Thanks for the comment.

Good morning. I’m always encouraged by the incredible work that the Lord is doing there. And how street preaching has tied together with the mall bible study is awesome. The challenge to start such a study is something that I’m praying over. In this age, it’s the default place where folks hang out and is a rich field for evengelism. Thanks.

Have a blessed day in Jesus.

    Timbob,
Yes He is at work here and everywhere. I will pray that His will be done regarding you starting one up. It may be that you will just go there and sit and see what He will bring your way. A lot of times we just need to move out and be available, then He works.
    Please pray for Susan.
God bless you and yours during this Christmas season.

  9. Scotti Says:

    Scotti,
Thank you so much. May you also be blessed in this coming new year!

  12. rjperalta Says:

    Johnny,
Thanks for your prayers. They are very much needed.
May this year bring awesome blessings to you and yours!

  13. Prodigal Knot Says:

    Dear Richard,

Looks like, Lord willing, we may have to get together next year 🙂

Keeping you and Susan in prayer and hoping to meet up with you again soon.

Grace and peace to you brother!

    Prodigal Knot,
Sorry about the delay in the return comment. Yes it is a new year! Praise God and it’s going to be a good one. Thanks for your prayers and yes lets get together next week, Lord willing.
May God bless you this year!

Praise The LORD for the addition to your Bible study! Your post was encouraging. Also I intend to seek The LORD on holding a Bible study in my mall, that is a wonderful idea and it has never occurred to me (until I read it here obviously). =)

Praise God for what He is doing in and through you!

  16. Richard Says:

    Commissioned2serve,
Glad you were blessed! May He guide and direct you in this. It’s a great place, why? because there are people all around watching. With the word opened up and read out loud it doesn’t return void.
    May you be blessed
