Caution in the “laying on of hands”

January 2, 2013

Received some good understanding/revelation this morning on being careful in the “laying on of hands”.
Through a personal experience that took place last night, i gained the following and hope that you also might be enlighten into the danger of being too quick to let someone or several people put their hands on you and pray.
First off, i highly recommend, that if you don’t know the person or person’s that are praying for you, it is best to politely recline. Tell them that it is nothing against them personally, but that you do not know them. If they just want to pray for you without laying their hand on you, that would be fine if you are comfortable with that.
The “laying on of hands” has the ability to transfer in the spiritual realm. Many believers are either not taught this, just don’t believe it, or have no idea to the spiritual ramifications and are just naive to this truth.
Found in God’s word is a truth regarding this subject.
While the following passage is most often taking for us not laying hands on just any ole’ person, i believe the reverse is also to be included.

“Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep yourself pure.” (1Tim.5:22)

I have found through experience that if the person or person’s, that are laying hands on you are not walking in obedience/holiness, then you could be a “partaker” of their sins. Thus, the reason, we must “keep ourselves pure”.
Now the problem here is that we don’t know the person or person’s individual walk. That is why we must side on the side of caution. Unless the Spirit of God within us is bearing witness to us that it is OK for them to lay hands on us, we best not.

The minute i woke up this morning, i knew something was drastically wrong spiritually. It was like a night and day difference from the previous morning. My mind was all cluttered and with no clarity. I began to inquire of the Lord. He took me back to last night where there was several people who gathered around me and layed hands on me and prayed. A short time afterwards, i prayed for a guy there and i could not even pray in the spirit, but knew as i was praying that something had gone wrong. At the time, i didn’t know. Soon i left, and felt that something wasn’t right.

Praise God, he showed me this morning what had happened. We went to prayer and cast off the unclean spirits, through them out, and put up the blood of Jesus to seal them from their return!

I hope someone else is blessed by this and uses caution and wisdom and learns from this reality.

God bless you!

People in a needy area

June 14, 2012

This morning the Spirit showed me that He wanted me to visit a part of town that I haven’t been to in over six month’s. When I first heard this, I really didn’t want to go. I was just not enthused about going there this time. However, I have learned that it’s not about whither I want to go or not, it’s about what He wants to do.

After getting off the max train, I started to walk in a different area to get to this part of town. This time, I came from another direction. It was from the west. All the other times that I can remember were from the north, either walking or by bus.

After about a block or two, I looked to my left and noticed a man standing outside of a place of business and looking at his phone. Quickly the Spirit had me focus on his shirt that he was wearing. It said, “I’m in a boat”. Then I heard the Spirit say, “the boat, ah, you know what to do with that”. I smiled and said, “oh yes”.

A brother and I, will sometimes use “boat” in reference to sharing Christ and telling them that they need to “get in the boat” with Jesus.

So I walked over to the guy and said, “hey, I like your shirt!” He smiled and said, “thanks”. I then proceeded to share with him how that many times I will share Jesus with people and use the “boat” as saying, “are you in the boat yet?”. I then asked him if he was familiar with the story of Noah and the Ark. He said that he was. I then said that it’s the same today, God is trying to get people in the boat before it takes off. He listened and was receptive to what he heard. Another reminder, another seed.

After that encounter, I went by the “Polish Association” building. As I was passing by, I noticed a billboard and a map of Poland. As I stood there looking at it, my mind went back years ago when the Wall was still up and we went into Poland, taking with us something that the brothers and sisters counted as priceless. I will never forget. Blessed again with the reminder.

As I approached the area, I was once again reminded that one of Satan’s main tools is “preoccupation”. Whatever and whoever he can use to distract from them receiving from their maker, he will do. He is doing a very good job of it. In fact, I would say that he is getting better all the time at the art of preoccupation.

Soon we were onto the main street of this area. I am well familiar with this area, having been here many times. We went into a prayer walk immediately as we walked down the sidewalk. A ways down the road, we were hit with the word “Perversion”. It came strong and continually as we spent the next couple hours in walking and sitting in prayer.

I can honestly say that since the last time I was here, the increase in “iniquity” which is perversion, has dramatically increased in as little as six months. Yep, only six months.

Continuing in prayer, I kept hearing “twisted”. I know that is a popular “cool” word, but this had some depth to it. When I got home this evening, I went into study again on “Iniquity”, “Perversion” and the like. I will not take all the time here, but a few things might be a good reminder.

Iniquity in the Hebrew means, “perversity ie (moral) evil, fault. Along with some other meanings, it also means “to distort”. After much study, I came to the Webster definition of Distort. It means, “to twist, to twist out of the true meaning or proportion, to twist out of a natural, normal or original shape or condition, pervert.”

So when the Spirit gave me the words “perversion” and “twisted”, He wasn’t far off.

So now we are in prayer ever more so for the people of this area. And, asking when we are to go back and what we are to do. They need Jesus, like really bad. It’s one of the “core” areas of this city.

“God doesn’t answer my prayers”

November 26, 2011

Or, “I’ve tried God, it didn’t work for me”.

In ministry, I have heard many people make these kind of remarks. Basically, whenever they were in need, or had a crisis in their life, they cried out to God for his help. When they became desperate they needed or wanted God. This is common when we as human’s need something, or someone.

It is certainly not wrong to cry out to God in times of need. This is how most people come to have a relationship with Him. Most come when their backs are against the wall, so to speak. He does allow difficulties, and He also does cause them in some cases. Of course, when you mention “cause” that is very touchy ground. If I were to say that He caused some kind of tragedy, or unfortunate circumstance, most, if not all would run away from God, not towards Him. We of course, can’t know for sure whither He allowed it or cause it. In any case however, God is over all, and he is in control of all. Nothing happens in one’s life without Him not knowing, and not knowing why and how.

Everybody would jump on board if God was a “Santa Clause” God. If all he did was treat us like spoiled children and give, give and give without no obedience, no acting right, what kind of people would we be? I guarantee we would be as a people, way worse off than we are now. If there were no restraints with God? What happens with children when they are spoiled and given everything they want? What happens when they become adults? The answer is easily available, take a look around.

So, it’s hard to confront the reason why “God doesn’t answer our prayers”. Why? Because you have to deal with the most honest, difficult and hard realization there is. What is that? SIN. Nobody wants to talk about it. Nobody wants to bring it up. It’s offensive. It gets more personal than anything else you have to deal with in life. It’s the “hardest of hard”.

Now, there are two classes of people. Those who have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, and have trusted him for the forgiveness of their sins, and have allowed Him to be Lord of their lives. Then, there are those who have not yet believed and received.

In this post, I am not going to take the time to address “God not answering my prayers” to those who have yet to receive Christ. If you are one of these, this of course must be your first step. He is a God who does answer our prayers. But, the prayer He is waiting to hear from you, is that of crying out to Him in repentance (wanting to turn and give up sin) and asking for forgiveness for the offences that you have done against Him. It’s hard, but it must be done.

For those who have received Christ at one time, but are not currently living for Him and allowing Him to be above all in their lives, this is for you.

The Prophet Isaiah very clearly and pointedly puts forward the key for God answering our prayers. We would all agree, that one would have to first be able to “hear” our prayer before one could answer, right? So, the question would go out, why doesn’t God hear my prayer?

In the passage of Isaiah 59:1-3, it very clearly speaks of being separated from God. While the passage can also be used to teach us that sin separates us from God, when we are outside of a relationship with God, it also speaks to those who may have at one time had that relationship and walked with him. However, because of sin, they have become strayed from Him, and the wall of separation is being built, brick (sin) by brick. Where they might have had a one time relationship with Him, there is now no “hearing” from God for their prayers.

One must ask, “why is this the case!”. “Why doesn’t God answer my prayers!” These questions could very well be the best ones to ask. They could lead to finding the answer as to why doesn’t He hear me.

Isaiah speaks:

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities (perversity) have separated you from your God; and your SINS have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perversity.”

It’s a hard passage, but true. It gives the answer as to why God will not “hear”. Again, he has to hear first to be able to answer.

So, if you want your prayers to be answered (and of course, answered according to the one who knows best what our needs are) or more importantly, heard, so He can began to move, repair, make new etc. his will for you, turn in prayer towards Him. Cry out to Him for help. Really desire to turn from sin. Realize that you are bound up in it, and that you cannot turn from it on your own. You want deliverance!

For He has said, “Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the sinner forsake his way, and the unrighteous person his thoughts; let them return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.” (Isa.55:6-7)

There you have it. Come to the God of Mercy and Pardon. He is waiting to Forgive.

What a friend

September 2, 2008

Recently this old hymn came to me as I was dealing with the struggles of life.

Everybody is dealing with stuff in their lives. Some of which is trivial, other is very important and some very serious. The key is how do we handle it. Do we worry? Are we anxious?

Somethings we bring on ourselves. Others just happen with no apparent reason. Somethings God allows into our lives for reason. He has purpose for all he does, or allows.

We must get to God in prayer, for herein lies the secret. Peace amidst the storms of life can only be found in the hollow of His hand. Under the shadow of His wings.

This song has been a great blessing to me over the last couple of weeks as I go through the fire of refinement. One thing I have found out in this life and that is, that it is a fight. The calling that The Lord has given me for this life has been my biggest fight to keep. The devil has won once in my life, but by God’s grace he will never win again.

Fight on dear brother or sister! We must draw closer to Him in prayer daily. This is a battle, like it or not. Satan has a plan also. He wants to not only take you out in the end, but get you off track in this life. God has a special purpose for you personally while here on earth. If you are off track, Satan is smiling all along the way. And it’s more than just, eat, sleep, work, then play. The world paints that picture. The world says, “get all you can at whatever cost”. It yells out, “you deserve it”.

Jesus said, we are to be in the world, but not of it.(Jn.17) What does that mean to you? Take a few minutes and grab the concordance and look at all the scriptures that talk about not loving the world or not being of the world.

This materialistic society is getting worse by the minute. And we all need to take inventory daily of our lives and check and see which way we are going. Are we going towards God and his ways, or are we going towards the world and it’s ways?

Quite frankly I am sick of this world. I have found one cure that makes it possible to survive, and that is living in The Spirit of God daily. But it is truly a fight every inch of the way. We must keep at the foot of the cross daily. Daily close to Him, or the world will eat you up and keep spitting you out over and over again. That is just the way it is, like it or not.

How are you doing with you calling? Your purpose that He has for you? Are you pursuing it?
For some of you, do you even know what he has called you to?

Anyways, here is the song. May you read it slowly and be blessed by it.

What a Friend
What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
Oh what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble any where?
We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness, take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms he’ll take and shield thee, thou wilt find a solace there.

God bless you as you go out.

To God be the glory, for great things He is doing!(Part#4)

November 5, 2007

All of this four part testimony took place in one day. It just goes to show you what God wants to do through all those who avail themselves and want to be used of God for His glory and His Kingdom.

After Dan stood up, we all hugged on him and such joy was in our hearts. Now here was a man who just a short time before, was totally intoxicated from drinking wine. Now he was sober and in his right mind. Praise God!

I have tried to do my best with God’s help to describe what took place, but words do have a limit.

He then asked if he could sing another song, we all said “by all means, let her go”. It was awesome to hear him sing every verse with passion and clarity. By the time he finished, we all knew something was about to break loose.

He yelled out, “DO YOU MIND IF I PREACH?” We smiled and said, “GO FOR IT”. First he started out with his testimony about how God had just delivered him from alcohol. Then he went into The Gospel. It was right on, every word. He shared also about seeking God while He can be found. He told the crowd how that God had said to him, “will you just seek me, I am here if you will seek me” It was awesome!

About that time a lady starts shouting and she walks over and tries to stop the flow of what God is doing. (this is almost standard procedure, the devil does not want things like this to take place so he fights hard.) This other brother goes over to her and finally gets her to go somewhere else.

Out of nowhere, walks up this lady and she says, “can I buy you guys some coffee?” She had been watching all that took place. She takes out her tablet and takes our order. Off she went, and returns with four large coffee’s. What a blessing she had been to all of us. She smiled and hugged us all, and off she went. God bless her richly!

Dan(the brother that just received Christ) continues to preach several times. Many were listening as they waited for the train. About that time another brother walks up and recognizes Dan. He said that he was with the local rescue mission. We then proceeded to tell him all that happened. His eyes began to water. He was very thankful. He said to Dan, “Are we now going to see you in church on Sunday?” Dan said, “You Bet”. Thank you God!

It was time for me to leave and catch the last bus out for the night. All six of us gathered in a circle and lifted up prayer and thanksgiving to God for what He had done that evening.
As another brother was finishing prayer, I heard the sound of Satan again. I looked over across the way, and sure enough his messengers had come to try one last time.

There stood three of them all dressed in black with their long coats, yelling out loud about Satan and saying all their usual junk. They had known what just took place, and they were there to stop it. TOO LATE. THE WORK OF CHRIST HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE. PRAISE HIM!

I pleaded THE BLOOD OF JESUS and we finished prayer and went on our way.

I trust this testimony was a blessing to you. This is just a drop in the bucket of all that God wants to do in these days. If you are not yet a part of what He is doing in the earth today, you need to be. Pray and ask Him, he will show you. He is about people. People are the apex of His creation. He loved them all so much that He gave His Son to redeem them back to himself.
May you be blessed also as you go out and do your part for Him and His Kingdom.
Amen.

To God be the glory, for great things He is doing!(Part#3)

November 4, 2007

In the last post, I had forgotten to mention that on my way to the city in the train, I needed to stop off and use the bathroom at a local store. After that, the Lord wanted me to go to a bus stop close by that I had been to several times before.

After praying, I jumped in and started to preach The Good News on one corner. One young kid didn’t like it, so he sounded off. (I spoke with this kid later, he is one step closer to Christ now) Then a young black guy came over to talk. He listened real well as The Holy Spirit moved upon his heart. It took probably close to an hour before he made the move to receive Jesus. But he did! Praise God! He went off changed by the power of God!

I called him that night on the way home. He said that he was at home resting. Now this was Friday night close to 8:00pm. He was saved from drugs and may have been either in a gang, or had came out of one. But glory to God he is changed! He said to me as we parted on the phone, “pray for me, I just want to live”. That tells it all.

Back to where I left off in “Part#2”.
It was 4:00pm at the train stop and it’s Friday night and there are people in need of hearing The Gospel everywhere as they wait for the train to go home from work. I started in and before long James showed up. We took turns preaching and God’s Spirit was moving as several came up to either take a tract or talk.

Then the distractions came once again. This young guy who had a plastic cup full of wine, starts to scream and yell and gets in our faces. James calms him down as I finish. I went over to him and tried to talk with him. He seemed surprised that I would have come over to talk with him after all his yelling and carrying on.

As we talked, God through His Spirit began to speak to him, a little at a time. He said he had to go use the bathroom, and asked if I would be there when he came back. I assured him I would. I miss out from time to time, but I knew there was hope for this guy. He came back with more wine and seemed to be even more intoxicated. What I really liked about this encounter was that the fact that he was still drinking, but God was still coming after him. I could see transformation taking place.

Now James comes up to talk to him, and gets real straight with him. The guy blows a gasket big time, screams and yells. The crowd turns and begins to listen in as to try and figure out what is going on. The guy storms off. I thought we had lost him then. James begins to preach again.

Minutes later he returns in a huff. I with the help of God, calm him down, and once again we(the Spirit and I) start to share Christ with him. He shares a lot of his problems and fears. Now, it was pretty obvious that this guy was a outcast by others, by the things he shared with me. But God was loving on him big time. I could see His love being poured out on our soon to be brother.

He takes off to smoke a cigarette across the street. I shared with James what was taking place. When he returned glass in hand, James apologizes for some of the things that he had said earlier. They hugged and forgave each other. It was powerful to behold.

James starts in again, sharing God’s love and power to change lives to the crowd. The guy who I will call Dan, comes over to me again. This time I am noticing that he is listening more and getting closer to The Kingdom as we spoke. All of a sudden, HE TAKES THE CUP OF WINE AND THROWS IT 30 FEET DOWN THE BRICK WALKWAY. Wow! I was taken back! HE THEN BEGINS TO SING THE SONG, “CREATE A PURE HEART IN ME, O GOD, AND RENEW A STEADFAST SPIRIT WITHIN ME” He sings every word of the song. I noticed that he was sobering up as he was singing. God was moving!

He finishes the song and immediately DROPS TO HIS KNEES AND STARTS TO REPENT BEFORE GOD AND CONFESS. It was really powerful to hear him repent before God and ask Jesus for forgiveness and to be his Saviour and then his Lord. I knelt down with him and prayed for complete deliverance through God’s Son, Jesus Christ. (now remember, this is all taking place in a public square with lots of people standing around watching and listening) Praise God!
We finally stood up together and gave praise to God! He is Born of The SPIRIT OF GOD!

I will continue with “part#4. Wait and see what happens next. It’s a real testimony, glory to God!

To God be the glory, for great things He is doing!

November 3, 2007

I woke up early this morning giving God praise and glory for what He did yesterday. God is showing forth His power on the streets, big time. He is changing lives. Restoration is taking place right before our eyes. To God be the glory! I pray that you will be inspired to get out and use what gifts and callings that God has blessed you with. You are unique and because of that, you can reach people that I can’t, and vice verse. Isn’t that so like God? He is unique and He made you unique to reach unique people.

It was one of those days where I did not receive orders from Him as to where to start exactly. I was impressed to just set out and see what happens. This is something that I did on a regular basis for about a year, and it was “oh so awesome”. Going out, but not knowing where. I pray that if God has yet to impress you by His Spirit to do this, that He would and that He would do it soon. Amen.

The first human encounter was a young guy at the traffic light on my way walking to the bank. I shared with him and he really listened. I believe it was another seed planting. He took a tract, and I pray that He will come when God again draws his heart to come to Him.

After the bank, (praise God there was money in the bank!) I went to the bus stop and talked (tried to) with a Hispanic man. I don’t know Spanish (but I should) so lately God has had me use a key from my pocket and tell them that the key to God is Jesus Christ. He smiled and nodded his head. I pointed to the heart also.

When I got on the bus, I immediately saw a young kid that I have talked to before. He is very quite. I sensed that there was pain and sorrow in his life, so I asked him, “has there been some painful things happen in your life?” He said yes. I said, “Have you lost a mother, or father? “A family member?” He said no, but that he did not want to talk about it. God knows and I can pray for him.

Soon I got to the first city and the local transit mall. The Lord had me do the usual prayer walk around the block. Then had me stand and start to pass out tracts and do some preaching. A young guy and his girl friend came up and wanted prayer. I first asked them if Jesus Christ was their Lord and Saviour. They said no. So I went through The Gospel with them and praise God they turned from the old life to the new! We prayed and they received Him as Lord and Saviour! The Angels where singing again! Hallelujah!

Well, of course about that time a messenger of Satan shows up (standard procedure) and we rebuked him in Jesus name and pleaded the blood of Jesus Christ. He flees, praise God!

Another brother which I just met a couple of weeks ago, stops by and we have an awesome time talking about God and His goodness. We share out loud what He has done. This is real powerful in a public setting. Whether on a corner, or in a building elevator, or on a bus or train, give God the glory out loud. You will be amazed at what takes place.

I moved across the street and there stood a young black man who was blind. My heart went out to him. I stood there praying for him quietly. Then God’s Spirit moved and I began to talk with him. I asked him if Jesus was his Lord and Saviour. He smiled and said “oh yes”. I asked him how long he had been blind, he said “since I was a year and a half old.” My heart swelled with compassion for the man.

I stood there and The Lord reminded me of my morning walk to the bank earlier. As I was walking along, God began to show me my five senses. I went through all of them one by one. I smelled, I saw, I heard etc. I ran my fingers along the concrete divider. I began to weep and appreciation came over me. Why me? as I thought of others that don’t have some of these senses. I certainly didn’t deserve it. God in His love and mercy has given them to me for His glory. May they be used for Him.

So as I stood there with this blind man, tears of compassion began to flow as I prayed to The Father for him. I looked up and saw the blue sky. The trees with their leaves turning. I pleated with God that he might see again. I asked him if I could pray with him for complete healing of his eyes. He said, “sure”.( before this I was a little reserved, because I have learned that you need to be very careful and sensitive with people who have disabilities). But I really sensed that God’s Spirit was working and He wanted to heal him.

Just as we started to pray, I looked up and there was a girl standing next to us that I have met out on the streets before. I had to refresh my memory and ask her if she was a believer or not. She said she was. I explained to her what was taking place and asked her if she believed that God could restore this man sight. She said, “yes” so we prayed together.

When we finished praying, I asked the man if he could see. He said. “not yet, but I believe I will”. Praise God he will! I believe!

He gave me his telephone number and I expect when I call him, that he will tell me he now sees. Praise to God! He is healing our brother! He will see this side of eternity! He will look up and see the blue sky, the trees! Oh praise God with me! For He is great and greatly to be praised!
“To God be the glory, for great things He is doing!”

I will stop here because I personally don’t like long posts. So if I don’t like them, I will not make them, right?
The above is only one quarter of what God did that day. With His help, I will try to write some more later.

I write these testimonies so that first God would be glorified in them, and second that you the reader would be encouraged to go out and use your gifts and callings for Him and His Kingdom. Amen

A prayer for all those that are struggling with unbelief

October 21, 2007

The Lord gave me this scripture today and I turned it into my prayer to Him. If you are also struggling with unbelief in any battle that you are facing personally, I invite you to pray this prayer with me.

We (both Susan and I) are in our biggest battle with faith in trusting Him for provision. We have seen Him provide miraculously, especially over the last two years. He wants to take us to a new and different level. It is not easy by any stretch of the imagination. Your prayers are gratefully appreciated.

Prayer:
“I hold firmly to what I do profess. For I have a great High Priest, Jesus Christ who has gone into the very presence of God for me. He is my High Priest, and he is not one who cannot relate with my weaknesses, nor not have sympathy for me. But, on the contrary, I have a High Priest who was tempted in every way that I am. He was also tempted to have unbelief, yet he did not sin.”

“My desire then is, to have confidence and approach God’s throne where I will find grace. This is where I will receive mercy and find grace to help me in my time of need, struggling with unbelief.”
Amen.

A plea for help

July 9, 2007

Recently, I came across a blog site titled, “Jonah’s Journey” at jonah40.wordpress.com. Unless you have HIV you cannot totally relate with what this person is going through. Although he is not yet been confirmed with the disease, he has some of the symptoms. My heart goes out to him as I read his posts of despair, discouragement, and hopelessness etc.

I do hope that you will stop by his blog and chat with him. Try as hard as it may be, to put yourself in his shoes. May you pray for him and encourage him. Are we not our brothers keeper?

Thanks,
Richard

This is where the journey begins

March 15, 2007

Recently, I have been tired and weary a lot while ministering downtown. I just figured that I needed to get more sleep at night and that would soon take care of it.

This week, Susan and I met with a brother and sister in the Lord. While visiting with them, they both said that I looked tired and that the spiritual forces from the enemy where taking their tole on me.

All three of them said that I needed more prayer and that more people should be praying for me while I’m down there. I agreed with them.

Yesterday, I was downtown and I sensed a real need for prayer. I had done a lot of prayer walking in the past, however in the last two month’s I have been slacking a bit.

So, I got off the bus and pictured in my mind, walking a large square area of downtown. I started from one corner and continued to walk a six block square area. I ended up at the same corner that I had started at.

As I was approaching the corner, I looked up above the corner and saw a sign that read, “This is where the journey begins”. I smiled and went over and stood underneath the sign and prayed.

My journey (my ministry for the day) had started with prayer. And what a difference it made as the day went on. I could see The Spirit moving upon people as The Gospel went forth in power.

And the other blessing? I had more physical strength and stamina then I have had in a long time.

Praise God for I was reminded that the journey must begin with prayer.
