From rags to True Riches

February 9, 2012

“He would do things like, scream and yell at people. He would run as fast as he could down the sidewalk, screaming and yelling, pushing people out of his way. People who didn’t know him, or weren’t from this area, would freak out. Many would call the police. He was picked up and taken to jail so many times that Joe had lost track of the count. The police of course knew him all too well.”

I believe in the redemptive power of God to change a life. Testimonies prove it.

Today was a lot like a typical day going out on the streets, getting on the train after riding the bus to the train stop. As the train was getting ready to make its first stop into downtown, I looked out the window and noticed a corner, and a spot to stand hit my eye. I heard the Spirit say, “stand there”. So, as it stopped, I got off and walked back to that spot.

I stood there smiling and handing out the “Why do you need Jesus cards”. Had a couple of good contacts with a few people, and good reception in taking the cards. After about 20 minutes, I turned to my right and this guy almost knocked me over. It was Steve! (name changed to protect the redeemed).

Now, I will back up to approximately five years ago.

The Hawthorne area is an area that the Lord has led me to quite often over the years. Like a lot of towns, they have their part of town that cater to the younger generations and it’s “hippy” like culture. Such is this part of our city. Like a lot of cities, it has deep roots in the occult and witchcraft. But hey, the light shines brightest in the dark, right?

On many visits to this area, I would see this man who lived here and everybody knew him. Why did they know him? Well, it wasn’t exactly for his well dressed look or his very charming personally. He was known as the guy who everybody felt sorry for. He was a part of the town. He would bum food, money etc. from anybody at anytime of the day or night. You’re thinking right about now, that he was the “local town bum” right? Well, you could say that, but it ran a little deeper than that. Let me explain.

I have developed a friendship with one guy down there who has his corner where he hangs out everyday with his cardboard sign. His name is Joe (name changed to protect his popularity). Joe has known Steve ever since he came to this area. Many times when I landed here, I would go over to Joe’s corner and hang out for a while. We would always eventually bring up Steve and talk about how he was doing.

You see, Steve had some real mental things going on. And yes, a good deal of it was spiritual. He would do things like, scream and yell at people. He would run as fast as he could down the sidewalk, screaming and yelling, pushing people out of his way. People who didn’t know him, or weren’t from this area would freak out. Many would call the police. He was picked up and taken to jail so many times that Joe had lost track of the count. The police of course knew him all too well.

I remember on one occasion, I had just arrived there, and it was night-time. I looked down the street and saw the flashing lights. I walked by the police car, and there they were, putting Steve in the car again. After visiting with Joe, he shared with me as to what he was arrested for. It was “indecent exposure”. You see, Steve also had this problem where he would for no known reason, pull down his pants and began to take his clothes off. And yes, right in front of everybody as they passed by. And you can guess what would happen shortly afterwards. Yep, the flashing lights.

Two occasions stand out in my mind as a recall the times when I saw him there. One time, it was the middle of winter, and he had his usual dirty clothes, long matted hair, and dirty face. Because of his condition, you could not carry on an intelligent conversation with him. This always bothered me, however, I did not want to succumb to the thought of “oh well, that’s just the way he is”, and just let him be. I believed he was going to be delivered and healed. So, when ever I would see him, I would push through and try to speak with him. Well, this day he actually stopped long enough to hear me invite him to go with me to the Starbucks for coffee. He said he would! Wow! I was shocked, and quite frankly didn’t expect it. So, we walked down the sidewalk. I spoke to him about God’s love for him. I prayed for him and tried to get some feedback, but nothing.

We came to the coffee shop. I opened the door and he just stood there. I said, “let’s go in”. He just stood there. I closed the door, and we stood outside. After trying to find out why he didn’t want to go in, I finally figured it out. Here was a man who didn’t live inside of four walls. He had no house to stay in. All he knew was the outdoors. It was his home. I’m sure the enclosure frighten him, big time.

So, I asked him what kind of drink he wanted. Much to my surprise he said, “a latte”. I said, “what kind?” He said, “vanilla” Wow!, I thought. Praise God! I got an intelligent response out of him. I hugged him and said, “all right! that it will be”. So, he waited outside and I went in. I came out and smiled, gave him his drink and…….. off he went. What? He could not even stay for a minute? There went Steve, pushing aside people and hurrying down the sidewalk. Well, I was thankful that I had experienced a breakthrough with him anyways.

The other time was when I was standing on a corner in the area, passing out cards and noticed that he came by. I reached out and said “hey Steve, remember me? I bought you the latte? He looked at me as if he never met me or seen me before. I began to really pray for him. I didn’t like what the enemy was doing to this man. Frankly, I was getting real upset. Here was a wasted life that the enemy had no right to take and destroy. After about 20 minutes, I saw him coming back my way. I was not going to let this opportunity pass by. As he came by, I……..

immediately followed him rebuking the devil the whole way. It was a busy day and the sidewalks were full. We swerved in and out of the people passing by. I did not care what they thought of this “crazy man” following this guy and talking out loud, saying “I rebuke the unclean spirits in my brother! Come out of him, right now! In Jesus name! etc.etc.” Then……

He took off in a dead run. I followed a short distance, then stopped and gave him to the Lord. No doubt, many people have prayed for him over the years. I know many people have blessed him with untold blessings such as food, water, sleeping bags, money etc. Heaven will tell the story.

A year went by. No sight of him anywhere. I asked around and nobody knew. Of course, we hoped that he made his peace with God, if he had left us for good. Then one day……. I was downtown at a certain corner, and I looked to my left, and saw him. He was walking at a regular pace. He was dressed nicer. He was clean. I called out, “hey Steve!” He looked at me. I said, “do you remember me?” He shook his head up and down and said, “yes”. I smiled and said, “how are you doing?” He said, “really good”, I have my own place now”. I said, “really!” He said, “yeah!” Then he said, “hey I got to catch this bus”. We parted and I couldn’t believe what I had just heard and seen. I went home that night rejoicing in our Lord.

I couldn’t wait for the next time to go out to Hawthorne and tell Joe the good news. The next week came and I found myself led to go out there and tell him. He was so excited to hear that he was alive. I think he might have given up hope. It was an exciting time for sure.

Now fast forward six months, to today. As I turned to my right, this guy almost knocked me over. It was Steve!  I asked him how he was doing. He said great. He reminded me again that he had his own place, and that he had his own food. He looked really good. We reminisced a little about our times on Hawthorne. He remembered.

Now here is the best part………. I asked him, as I stood there holding one of my “why do you need Jesus” cards, “What about Jesus!” He looked at me and said, “Oh yeah! He’s my Lord and Savior!” Wow! To hear that come from his mouth, was like sweet dew coming from heaven! I hugged him and said, “God bless  you brother!” He smiled and said he needed to catch the bus. What a Redeeming God He is! Changed forever!

It takes effort! Moment by moment, day by day

July 21, 2010

It takes effort to stay in the Spirit. It is not automatic. Just because we are Christians and go to church is no guarantee that today we will remain in the Spirit. It’s day by day, moment by moment.

It would be nice if it didn’t take any real effort to remain in the Spirit. But then, would it have any real value? Doesn’t anything of real value take effort? The truth is that if we want to remain in the Spirit, it does take effort, and lots of it.

If we could remain in our little church bubble, be surrounded by our church friends all the time, this would allow us to remain in the Spirit, right? Wrong. This would be an illusion to real life in a real world full of sin and every ungodly thing. We are to be in the world. Christ was, and we are no different. “As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.” (Jn.17:18)

So, if we are living outside of the box (the bubble), and rubbing shoulders with the ungodly, we will be subjected to all kinds of sin and every thing imaginable under the sun. We will be tempted and tried daily. This is to our benefit if we indeed want to grow and not remain a babe in the faith. I can truly say that in all my years walking with God, it has not let up. It has only gotten more fierce as I go. It’s one thing to remain saved, yet another to try and fulfil God’s purpose while on earth. Two battles. One to remained saved, the other to fulfill your God given purpose on earth.

But, it is God’s purpose and will that we remain victorious and live in His Spirit moment by moment, day by day. Our “being set apart” (a continual process of sanctification) is God’s will. (See 1Thess.4:1-12)

What are some Keys to overcoming this flesh in this world?

What is the only way to “put to death the deeds of the body?”     By the Spirit!  “Therefore, brethren, we are debtors – not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if (by choice) by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” (Rom.8:12-13)

We must always be reminded that the real battle is in the mind. The battle starts here. Any sinful action always is proceeded by a sinful thought.

So what is the key to overcoming in our thought life?   Remaining in the Spirit. “bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (2Cor.10:5) This is only possible through the Spirit. It’s the power to overcome!

It takes effort. The flesh wants nothing to do with effort. It’s weak. Weakness has nothing to do with effort. When I am weak, I want to do nothing.

“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober,” (1Pet.1:13). This word “gird” has to do with “intensity” and “repetition”. Can you see the fight?

A transformation takes place when we renew our minds moment by moment. “be transformed by the renewing of your mind” Why? “so that we can prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Rom.12:2)

Another Key that takes effort is that we must “put off” and “put on”.  “that you put off, concerning your former conduct (your former living) the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts. And be renewed in the spirit of you mind. And that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” (Eph.4:22-24)

This verse is key. It has a lot of good stuff in it. There is the effort of putting on and off. The putting off of our former living in the lusts of the flesh. There is the effort of allowing the Spirit to renew our minds. Again, this is a moment by moment, day by day effort. Then there is the putting on of the new man. This man is and was, created like God according to true rightness and holiness.

How about some more effort of “putting on?”  “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” (Rom.13:14). What better to put on, but Christ. Not only that, but we should not give way to the flesh. We should not provide for it. We are not it’s provider! It continually wants to lust after any and everything. It’s very nature is LUST. Why is that? Because it can never be satisfied. So why shouldn’t it lust?

Initially, we were baptized into Christ and did put Him on. (Gal.3:27). But, we can’t bank on that one initial baptism and so live to cater to the flesh and it’s lusts. There must be a daily crucifiction to the flesh. Actually, moment by moment, through the Spirit.

Like I have said many times, the greatest battle that one will ever face, is that of the battle of flesh and Spirit.

If we stay in the Spirit, we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”  This is the key!  “For the flesh lusts (it’s desire is against the Spirit) against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; (The WAR) and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.” (sounds like Rom.7:15). “But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the (this) law.” What law is he talking about? The law that the flesh is against the Spirit. This is the law that Paul is referring to. (Gal.5:16-18)

So, the bottom line is that it takes effort on our part. We have everything we need in Christ. We have God’s Holy Spirit indwelling within us, which gives us the power to overcome the flesh. Each day and moment, we must take out the sword, and by the Spirit, put to death the flesh.

We can expect no power, no victories, no overcoming, no going forward, unless we fight in the Spirit!

“He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name (seems like it may be possible) from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.” (Rev.3:5)

Defiant one comes to Christ

May 21, 2009

I stood there looking at him, trying to convince myself that it was him.

I had just finished preaching a couple of blocks up from the local town square. The theme today was, “how to be put right with God”. I originally got the term, “put right” for righteousness, from the “Good News” translation of the Bible. It’s really the only reason I like that translation. I like to read from Romans chapter 3 starting with verse 21.
“But now God’s way of putting people right with himself has been revealed.
Vs.22, “God puts people right through their faith in Jesus Christ”…….
There is some more, but for the sake of time I will continue with the testimony.

So as I finished a couple of blocks up, I walked towards the square to check out a place that I stand and share. As I approached the square, I turned left and went a short distance, then right. I saw a guy with a small “boom box” playing something. I got a little closer to try and hear what it was that was coming out. The guy standing by it looked very familiar. I heard, “God” and “Jesus” coming from the box.

I walked a couple of feet to my usual spot, stood there holding a tract out and staring at the guy with the boom box.

Then it hit me! No, this can’t be the guy that I have seen before that got “in my face” when I was preaching. I stood there staring at him. Then his eyes caught mine.

I immediately walked over to him to take a closer look. I said, “what are you playing?” He explained that it was somebody preaching. I said, “Oh yeah” Then I said to him, “Are you a follower of Christ?” He said he was.
All the time, I was thinking to myself, “it’s him, isn’t it?”

Then I asked him, “how long have you known Christ? He said, about three month’s. I said, Really, praise God!

Then I had to ask him, “do you remember me?” I was preaching one time at this square about a year ago or so, and you got real belidgerant with me. You got in my face and was real defiant with me. Do you remember? He said, “Yes, I do”. “But now I’m changed” He went on to say that I was not the only one that he came against. There were other preachers that he had did the same to.

I do remember that he had this evil presence about him at the time. But now my spirit was bearing witness that he had been changed by the power of God. He was out witnessing, playing these CD’s and passing them out.

God is so awesome! He even mentioned the Apostle Paul, as to how he was before conversion. Likening himself to similar circumstances.

With God all things are possible! Great things He is doing! He is getting ready those who are going to be part of the next great awakening that is going to take place out in the open, outside of four walls.

Are you getting ready? It’s coming.

To God be the glory, for great things He is doing!(Part#4)

November 5, 2007

All of this four part testimony took place in one day. It just goes to show you what God wants to do through all those who avail themselves and want to be used of God for His glory and His Kingdom.

After Dan stood up, we all hugged on him and such joy was in our hearts. Now here was a man who just a short time before, was totally intoxicated from drinking wine. Now he was sober and in his right mind. Praise God!

I have tried to do my best with God’s help to describe what took place, but words do have a limit.

He then asked if he could sing another song, we all said “by all means, let her go”. It was awesome to hear him sing every verse with passion and clarity. By the time he finished, we all knew something was about to break loose.

He yelled out, “DO YOU MIND IF I PREACH?” We smiled and said, “GO FOR IT”. First he started out with his testimony about how God had just delivered him from alcohol. Then he went into The Gospel. It was right on, every word. He shared also about seeking God while He can be found. He told the crowd how that God had said to him, “will you just seek me, I am here if you will seek me” It was awesome!

About that time a lady starts shouting and she walks over and tries to stop the flow of what God is doing. (this is almost standard procedure, the devil does not want things like this to take place so he fights hard.) This other brother goes over to her and finally gets her to go somewhere else.

Out of nowhere, walks up this lady and she says, “can I buy you guys some coffee?” She had been watching all that took place. She takes out her tablet and takes our order. Off she went, and returns with four large coffee’s. What a blessing she had been to all of us. She smiled and hugged us all, and off she went. God bless her richly!

Dan(the brother that just received Christ) continues to preach several times. Many were listening as they waited for the train. About that time another brother walks up and recognizes Dan. He said that he was with the local rescue mission. We then proceeded to tell him all that happened. His eyes began to water. He was very thankful. He said to Dan, “Are we now going to see you in church on Sunday?” Dan said, “You Bet”. Thank you God!

It was time for me to leave and catch the last bus out for the night. All six of us gathered in a circle and lifted up prayer and thanksgiving to God for what He had done that evening.
As another brother was finishing prayer, I heard the sound of Satan again. I looked over across the way, and sure enough his messengers had come to try one last time.

There stood three of them all dressed in black with their long coats, yelling out loud about Satan and saying all their usual junk. They had known what just took place, and they were there to stop it. TOO LATE. THE WORK OF CHRIST HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE. PRAISE HIM!

I pleaded THE BLOOD OF JESUS and we finished prayer and went on our way.

I trust this testimony was a blessing to you. This is just a drop in the bucket of all that God wants to do in these days. If you are not yet a part of what He is doing in the earth today, you need to be. Pray and ask Him, he will show you. He is about people. People are the apex of His creation. He loved them all so much that He gave His Son to redeem them back to himself.
May you be blessed also as you go out and do your part for Him and His Kingdom.

To God be the glory, for great things He is doing!(Part#3)

November 4, 2007

In the last post, I had forgotten to mention that on my way to the city in the train, I needed to stop off and use the bathroom at a local store. After that, the Lord wanted me to go to a bus stop close by that I had been to several times before.

After praying, I jumped in and started to preach The Good News on one corner. One young kid didn’t like it, so he sounded off. (I spoke with this kid later, he is one step closer to Christ now) Then a young black guy came over to talk. He listened real well as The Holy Spirit moved upon his heart. It took probably close to an hour before he made the move to receive Jesus. But he did! Praise God! He went off changed by the power of God!

I called him that night on the way home. He said that he was at home resting. Now this was Friday night close to 8:00pm. He was saved from drugs and may have been either in a gang, or had came out of one. But glory to God he is changed! He said to me as we parted on the phone, “pray for me, I just want to live”. That tells it all.

Back to where I left off in “Part#2”.
It was 4:00pm at the train stop and it’s Friday night and there are people in need of hearing The Gospel everywhere as they wait for the train to go home from work. I started in and before long James showed up. We took turns preaching and God’s Spirit was moving as several came up to either take a tract or talk.

Then the distractions came once again. This young guy who had a plastic cup full of wine, starts to scream and yell and gets in our faces. James calms him down as I finish. I went over to him and tried to talk with him. He seemed surprised that I would have come over to talk with him after all his yelling and carrying on.

As we talked, God through His Spirit began to speak to him, a little at a time. He said he had to go use the bathroom, and asked if I would be there when he came back. I assured him I would. I miss out from time to time, but I knew there was hope for this guy. He came back with more wine and seemed to be even more intoxicated. What I really liked about this encounter was that the fact that he was still drinking, but God was still coming after him. I could see transformation taking place.

Now James comes up to talk to him, and gets real straight with him. The guy blows a gasket big time, screams and yells. The crowd turns and begins to listen in as to try and figure out what is going on. The guy storms off. I thought we had lost him then. James begins to preach again.

Minutes later he returns in a huff. I with the help of God, calm him down, and once again we(the Spirit and I) start to share Christ with him. He shares a lot of his problems and fears. Now, it was pretty obvious that this guy was a outcast by others, by the things he shared with me. But God was loving on him big time. I could see His love being poured out on our soon to be brother.

He takes off to smoke a cigarette across the street. I shared with James what was taking place. When he returned glass in hand, James apologizes for some of the things that he had said earlier. They hugged and forgave each other. It was powerful to behold.

James starts in again, sharing God’s love and power to change lives to the crowd. The guy who I will call Dan, comes over to me again. This time I am noticing that he is listening more and getting closer to The Kingdom as we spoke. All of a sudden, HE TAKES THE CUP OF WINE AND THROWS IT 30 FEET DOWN THE BRICK WALKWAY. Wow! I was taken back! HE THEN BEGINS TO SING THE SONG, “CREATE A PURE HEART IN ME, O GOD, AND RENEW A STEADFAST SPIRIT WITHIN ME” He sings every word of the song. I noticed that he was sobering up as he was singing. God was moving!

He finishes the song and immediately DROPS TO HIS KNEES AND STARTS TO REPENT BEFORE GOD AND CONFESS. It was really powerful to hear him repent before God and ask Jesus for forgiveness and to be his Saviour and then his Lord. I knelt down with him and prayed for complete deliverance through God’s Son, Jesus Christ. (now remember, this is all taking place in a public square with lots of people standing around watching and listening) Praise God!
We finally stood up together and gave praise to God! He is Born of The SPIRIT OF GOD!

I will continue with “part#4. Wait and see what happens next. It’s a real testimony, glory to God!

To God be the glory, for great things He is doing!(Part#2)

November 3, 2007

After I had finished praying with the man that was blind, I continued to share The Gospel and pass out tracts.

After a while a “transit security” guy came by and said, “you can’t do that here”. I have heard that one before, so I asked him some questions. He said that the property that I was on is being leased from the city and that the transit company does not allow people to preach out loud. I asked him where I could get the information in writing, and he told me where.

So I continued to pass out tracts for a while. I don’t believe in making a big seen and challenging the law when you don’t know for sure if what is being told to you is true or not. I have had a security guard come under conviction before and tried to tell me that I couldn’t preach where I was at. Come to find out he was wrong. Later he told me about how he was away from God etc.

Soon the Spirit was leading me to move to another city. After leaving on the bus, I went to the train that goes into the city. Waiting for the train, I struck up a conversation with a lady sitting on a bench. Come to find out she was a believer. Praise God! We got on the train and she shared with me how God had delivered her from drugs that she had been on for years. Awesome testimony! To God be the glory!

I went to the usual square in the center of the city where we minister from time to time. I did the usual prayer walk for a while. I spotted my brother James from a distance, ministering the Gospel and passing out tracts. I stopped and had prayer for him.

Soon, I walked around the square to where he was. As I approached him, I noticed two brothers standing off to the side praying as James was ministering. I had never seen these two before, so as James finished we all came together and introduced each other. Now this was another divine appointment set by God. Praise Him!

These two brothers, one of which is just getting his feet wet in street ministry are called of God. We shared and had prayer, exchanged telephone numbers. They had to take off to get their car which was on the meter, but both James and I know we will see them soon back out on the streets, the Lord willing.

James and I continued to share with those who would put the brakes on and come over and talk with us. Soon another brother who I haven’t seen in a year downtown, came by and we prayed and ministered together for a while.

I looked at the clock and it said 4:00pm. I had remembered that the Lord had shared with me that morning how he did want me to share in the later afternoon at a particular train stop at the square. So I told James to come over if God so leads him after our other brother had finished preaching.

Well, the post is long enough again. I will stop for now, but do go to “part#3” when it comes. It’s awesome to hear how God delivered an alcoholic and he sobered him up to preach The Gospel. Powerful! Praise Him! To God be the glory, great things He has done (because it was yesterday) and great things he is doing today.
Also, I left out a soul that God had saved that day.(God help me)

To God be the glory, for great things He is doing!

November 3, 2007

I woke up early this morning giving God praise and glory for what He did yesterday. God is showing forth His power on the streets, big time. He is changing lives. Restoration is taking place right before our eyes. To God be the glory! I pray that you will be inspired to get out and use what gifts and callings that God has blessed you with. You are unique and because of that, you can reach people that I can’t, and vice verse. Isn’t that so like God? He is unique and He made you unique to reach unique people.

It was one of those days where I did not receive orders from Him as to where to start exactly. I was impressed to just set out and see what happens. This is something that I did on a regular basis for about a year, and it was “oh so awesome”. Going out, but not knowing where. I pray that if God has yet to impress you by His Spirit to do this, that He would and that He would do it soon. Amen.

The first human encounter was a young guy at the traffic light on my way walking to the bank. I shared with him and he really listened. I believe it was another seed planting. He took a tract, and I pray that He will come when God again draws his heart to come to Him.

After the bank, (praise God there was money in the bank!) I went to the bus stop and talked (tried to) with a Hispanic man. I don’t know Spanish (but I should) so lately God has had me use a key from my pocket and tell them that the key to God is Jesus Christ. He smiled and nodded his head. I pointed to the heart also.

When I got on the bus, I immediately saw a young kid that I have talked to before. He is very quite. I sensed that there was pain and sorrow in his life, so I asked him, “has there been some painful things happen in your life?” He said yes. I said, “Have you lost a mother, or father? “A family member?” He said no, but that he did not want to talk about it. God knows and I can pray for him.

Soon I got to the first city and the local transit mall. The Lord had me do the usual prayer walk around the block. Then had me stand and start to pass out tracts and do some preaching. A young guy and his girl friend came up and wanted prayer. I first asked them if Jesus Christ was their Lord and Saviour. They said no. So I went through The Gospel with them and praise God they turned from the old life to the new! We prayed and they received Him as Lord and Saviour! The Angels where singing again! Hallelujah!

Well, of course about that time a messenger of Satan shows up (standard procedure) and we rebuked him in Jesus name and pleaded the blood of Jesus Christ. He flees, praise God!

Another brother which I just met a couple of weeks ago, stops by and we have an awesome time talking about God and His goodness. We share out loud what He has done. This is real powerful in a public setting. Whether on a corner, or in a building elevator, or on a bus or train, give God the glory out loud. You will be amazed at what takes place.

I moved across the street and there stood a young black man who was blind. My heart went out to him. I stood there praying for him quietly. Then God’s Spirit moved and I began to talk with him. I asked him if Jesus was his Lord and Saviour. He smiled and said “oh yes”. I asked him how long he had been blind, he said “since I was a year and a half old.” My heart swelled with compassion for the man.

I stood there and The Lord reminded me of my morning walk to the bank earlier. As I was walking along, God began to show me my five senses. I went through all of them one by one. I smelled, I saw, I heard etc. I ran my fingers along the concrete divider. I began to weep and appreciation came over me. Why me? as I thought of others that don’t have some of these senses. I certainly didn’t deserve it. God in His love and mercy has given them to me for His glory. May they be used for Him.

So as I stood there with this blind man, tears of compassion began to flow as I prayed to The Father for him. I looked up and saw the blue sky. The trees with their leaves turning. I pleated with God that he might see again. I asked him if I could pray with him for complete healing of his eyes. He said, “sure”.( before this I was a little reserved, because I have learned that you need to be very careful and sensitive with people who have disabilities). But I really sensed that God’s Spirit was working and He wanted to heal him.

Just as we started to pray, I looked up and there was a girl standing next to us that I have met out on the streets before. I had to refresh my memory and ask her if she was a believer or not. She said she was. I explained to her what was taking place and asked her if she believed that God could restore this man sight. She said, “yes” so we prayed together.

When we finished praying, I asked the man if he could see. He said. “not yet, but I believe I will”. Praise God he will! I believe!

He gave me his telephone number and I expect when I call him, that he will tell me he now sees. Praise to God! He is healing our brother! He will see this side of eternity! He will look up and see the blue sky, the trees! Oh praise God with me! For He is great and greatly to be praised!
“To God be the glory, for great things He is doing!”

I will stop here because I personally don’t like long posts. So if I don’t like them, I will not make them, right?
The above is only one quarter of what God did that day. With His help, I will try to write some more later.

I write these testimonies so that first God would be glorified in them, and second that you the reader would be encouraged to go out and use your gifts and callings for Him and His Kingdom. Amen

Save the children

October 13, 2007

Today a young person was saved and became a child of God.
He works for the “save the children” foundation. Little did he know that morning when he set out that he would be saved from sin and become a child of God. How fitting was that?

James and I had just finished ministering for the day and we were walking along the sidewalk downtown to my bus stop, when the Spirit of God caused me to stop and talk with him regarding repentance and how important it is in the plan of God for salvation.

We had just started to talk about this guy who appears to be in deep sin, when this young guy crosses the road and comes right next to us. James interrupts me and says to the guy, “what about you, do you have a relationship with God?”

Well, that opened up into one awesome conversation. One that lasted for about 45 minutes, as we explained to him the kingdom of God. He had believed that all were going to heaven, all had the Spirit of God etc. He listened, as the Spirit of God began to move upon his heart and draw him.

Just like with most people, Christ was the stumbling block. James said how Christ was like a sword that cuts and divides. The Spirit was moving big time. I grabbed his hand, as I knew that this was the time for him. It was intense. God was moving. God was dealing. It was powerful to behold.

Soon James asked him if he would like to confess on Christ. He prayed and received Christ as his Lord and Saviour. Praise God for his divine appointments. Praise God, for He has added another into the Kingdom of His dear Son.

For He is good and greatly to be praised!

Watching the power of God transform

September 22, 2007

God has been doing some awesome transformations out on the streets.
Peoples lives are being changed by God, through His Son Jesus Christ. God is alive, right here in America! Right now in the year 2007.

Yesterday, a young man come over as we were sharing The Gospel. My brother James (a brother in our Lord that I minister with) asked him if he had a relationship with Jesus. He said he was brought up Catholic.

At first he didn’t reject listening about Christ. After about 10 minutes, he started to try and refute The Gospel and God etc. James kept sharing with him and as time moved on, The Holy Spirit began to speak and draw him. He began to listen more, to agree more. A transformation was taking place, a little at a time. At the end, James asked if we could pray with him. He said yes! Now be reminded, that all his friends from school were right in the area were he was standing.

Just as we were praying, a fight broke out, and I noticed he was starting to get distracted. James quickly said to him, “don’t worry about that, we are dealing with something far more important than that”.

He prayed for forgiveness of sins, asked Jesus Christ to be Lord of his life, and to be his Saviour. Wow! The power of God’s Spirit upon a human heart! To see the before and after!

Just a few minutes before he was taking about things like, “how can there be a God, because of this and that going on” “I can’t see God so why should I believe in him”.

God is in the transformation business, and it’s powerful!
Praise Him!
